As longtime lovers of good food, quality ingredients and cooking at home, we wanted Zuzu to be radically delicious, not too sweet and taste great alongside a meal. And as dabblers in wellness who care deeply about the quality and integrity of what we consume, we knew we wanted to stick to wholesome ingredients, make the ABV light and keep the calories low. Zuzu is our answer to days-long hangovers, synthetic spiked seltzers and the cloying canned cocktails of the world.
Ali Schmidt + Greta Caruso
Longtime friends, co-snackers and skin serum sharers, Ali and Greta cut their teeth in the sustainable food world before diving into Zuzu in 2019. Greta is a co-founder of Good Eggs, the Bay Area-based online store for local and absurdly fresh groceries, and a board member of Alice Waters’ Edible Schoolyard Project.
Ali trained at the Ballymaloe Cookery School in Cork, Ireland, before cooking and baking in restaurants (like Violet!) in London. Also a Good Eggs alumna, she received an MBA from Stanford in 2018.
